A thing of the past? Hardly! The new PTCarPhone 5 series is a contemporary version of the classic car phone. The devices have a fully overhauled handset with 2.4-inch color display, convenient four-way navigation, and a clearly organized menu structure. The new phone can now store 5,000 contacts instead of the previous 1,000. The already high audio quality offered by the handset and hands-free kit has also been further improved. pei tel Communications GmbH, developer and manufacturer of high-quality communication solutions and radio accessories, which is based in the city of Teltow, near Berlin, is slated to show the new PTCarPhone 5 series for the first time at the IAA Passenger Cars, in Frankfurt, from September 17 to 27. The company will appear at the peiker acustic booth, number C 02, in hall 8.
“Traditional car phones still have a number of advantages over Bluetooth solutions today. Especially in terms of audio quality, the PTCarPhone 5 series once again sets new standards,” says Thomas Martin, Managing Director of pei tel. This is based on improved components and technologies: For example, the hands-free kit now has a new amplifier, and the handset has a new earpiece. The UMTS versions of the device also support HD voice, which means phone conversations are transmitted with significantly more clarity and more natural sound. This makes the PTCarPhone 5 series especially suitable for those who drive a lot and want to talk on the phone conveniently and without disruptions or interference. For fleet operators, the future option of managing individual devices centrally represents an interesting option, as it will make it possible to change, allocate, or synchronize phone and device settings, operating modes, and contacts remotely. Another new feature in the PTCarPhone 5 series is digital I/Os, freely programmable inputs and outputs that make special functions possible, such as managing door locks, blue light or alarm systems via text message or data transmission.
pei tel Communications GmbH has been developing new models in its PTCarPhone series for ten years. Customers include companies that equip their passenger car or truck fleets with the phones and government agencies, such as fire and police departments and paramedic services. Alongside the current selection of eight different permanently installed devices, the company also offers a wide range of handy accessories and individual adjustments for customers. The products are used in Germany and in many other countries, with more than 50 percent of the company’s classic car phones being bound for the export market. “The IAA is a good opportunity for us to convince even more businesses of the advantages offered by our solutions,” Martin says.
